Welder - JokerMartini

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Instructions:

1. Maxscript > Run Maxscript > Welder.ms
2. Select your master object. The one that you want to weld all your other objects to.
3. With the master object selected, hold the “ctrl” key and select the objects you wish to weld to the master object.
4. Choose your desired settings for the weld seem and hit intersecting welds.

With the realtime settings/property adjustments feature you can create you weld and then fine tune its properties using the UI of Welder with instant feedback.

You’ll see in the image there is now a concave and convex weld. In order to do that you just need to run either one of these functions which creates the weld and then loft this on the spline created by welder. Let me know if you want any other particular types of welds and then I’ll incoorporate these functions into the script for quicker use.

cheapest welder for aluminum?

i need to weld 3/16" sheet aluminum for a boat i'm making and want to do it at the cheapest cost. this welder (http://www.harborfreight.com/90-amp-flux-wire-welder-68887.html) says it won't do aluminum (and i'm not sure 90 amps would be enough anyway). Is that true? What if i bought the 180 amp model? Any suggestions for other welders?

Sealer And Welder Work With TPE Tubing - Chemical Processing

Home » Products » Sealer And Welder Work With TPE Tubing

AdvantaPure has introduced the AdvantaTube Sealer and the AdvantaTube Sterile Welder. The two machines, specifically designed for biopharmaceutical process applications, are preprogrammed to seal and weld the company’s biopharmaceutical-grade TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) tubing, AdvantaFlex.

The sterile welder produces tubing welds where two open ends are heated and joined to form a leak-free, single length. It maintains sterility of wet, dry, or fluid-filled tubing and works with gamma irradiated and autoclaved AdvantaFlex. Featuring an average cycle time of three minutes, the welder includes heat and time settings for AdvantaFlex tubing, although settings for other TPE tubing are available.

AdvantaPure’s sealer includes a 10-foot cord that connects to a base and allows users to bring the remote sealing head to the tubing. Operation is not restricted to a specific location as with other tabletop based tubing sealers. The unit uses heat and compression to securely seal fluid-filled or unfilled tubing in 90 to 120 seconds.

The sealer and sterile welder work with tubing wall thicknesses from 0.0625 to 0.125 inches and are designed for tubing with an O.D. of up to 0.75 inches. Both are supplied with certificates of compliance and one-year warranties. In addition to standard 110-VAC power inputs, 230-VAC and various plug adaptors are available.

Weldspares 140amp Arc Welder - MIG Welding Forum

Hi Folks, I could do with a little help

Under my bench I have my late Dads' old Arc welder, he loved it to bits and did a lot of small stuff with it. I'm guessing it's late 70's early 80's and is a rebadging jobbie from Weldspares, I've seen plenty of others that look the same thing with different names. It's in very good condition and well looked after.

Now before we start:

I know it's a buzzbox
I know it's worth nothing
For most jobs I'll be using my Clarke 135EN mig
But having a stick welder could be usefull for outside work, my other half keeps horses and there is an endless supply of busted gates etc.

It fires up fine, and will put a bead down, most of the rods are pretty old so I'm guessing are past their best, even though they've been in the airing cupboard for ten years!
But the big problem is the adjustment knob for amps is jammed solid, so it's stuck on 120ish. Before I take it all apart, what am I looking for? Is it just a lack of use, I do remember him muttering that the bl**dy welders packed up eons ago, so it may be something more sinister?

This is a nostalgia thing, I know I could buy a newer one for not much money, but it's not about that, I'd just like to use my ol Dads welder

So any ideas on how to free up the setting adjustment, if it's any help the tel tale seems to have dissappeard from it's window, all help much appreciated

Cracking forum this, I've learnt so much, couldn't have got to where I am without it!

Cheers

Steve

Lincoln Electric Power MIG 140C Welder | Motorcycle Reviews ...

March 30, 2012 by
Filed under Products & Gear, Tools

After 40 years of running to a welder to get simple projects done, I finally decided I had had enough. Enough of the tedious marking, measuring, and clamping I had to do to properly position the parts for the welder. Enough of spending 30 minutes to do all this, and another hour going back and forth to his shop, so he could take 10 minutes to do the deed. Enough of having to stop in the middle of a build to make the trip — if he was even open. It was way past time to get myself a welder!

The next step, of course, was which one to get? I decided the best one for me was a Lincoln Electric POWER MIG 140C (#K2471-2/$694) welder kit. The 140C plugs into a standard 120-volt/60-cycle/single-phase three-prong outlet that has a 20-amp breaker. In short, what you’ll find in a home garage. Lincoln designed the 140C specifically for the do-it-yourselfer. It’s a high-quality welder that’s perfect for home and farm projects, sheet metal work, and small shop welding (up to 5/16″ plate). Plus, the 140C comes with everything you need, minus gloves and a welding helmet, so you can start welding as soon as you take it out of the box. But before I get into all the stuff you get in the kit, let’s go over the 140C’s features.

As soon as I got my 140C, I took it to the guy who’s been doing my welding to see what he thought of it. At first he blew it off as a cheap (as in useless) home unit. However, the more he checked it out the more he liked it. That’s because the 140C has features normally found on more expensive units. The first thing he liked was that it has a cast-aluminum, dual-gear wire feed drive. He expected to find plastic. He also liked the split wire guides that keep the feed wire properly aligned. Another plus was the brass-to-brass connections for good conductivity between the welder and the gun. Finally, the 140C has an industrial-grade, closed-design drive motor, which means you get consistent and steady wire feeding. As you’ll find out, proper wire feeding is critical to good welds. Crappy wire delivery results in crappy welds. He also liked that the unit has a potted control board, which seals its sensitive electronic components from the elements and dirt, in a shock-resistant tray. Though it made no difference to my welding buddy, I liked the fact that the 140C is easy to weld thanks to Lincoln’s Diamond Core Technology, which delivers what Lincoln calls “a forgiving arc.” Basically, if you’re not positioning the arc just right, or you’ve got the settings a little off, you’ll still get great welds with low spatter.

The 140C comes configured to weld steel or stainless steel. However, if you want to weld aluminum, just remove the PRO 100L gun that it came with and plug in the optional (as in you don’t get it with the kit) Magnum 100SG spool gun that runs its own spool of aluminum wire. Since we’re on the subject of swapping components, the 140C comes set up to use self-shielded flux-cored wire. However, if you hook up a tank of CO2 or CO2 /argon mixed shielding gas and use the solid MIG wire, you have to switch the unit’s polarity to get the penetration needed for heavier gauge plate. This is done by simply swapping the positions of the gun and ground wires on the unit. It takes about one minute! In fact, you don’t need any tools to swap out wire spools, change polarity, and service the wire drive.

Here’s what you get in the K2471-2 kit: Magnum PRO 100L gun with a 10′ (3m) hose, gas and gasless nozzles, cable liner, 0.025″ (0.6mm) and 0.035″ (0.9mm) contact tips, work (ground) cable and clamp, adjustable gas regulator and hose, spindle adapter, sample spool of 0.025″ (0.6mm) SuperArc L-56 mild steel MIG wire, sample spool of 0.035″ (0.9mm) Innershield NR-211-MP flux-cored wire, Learn-To-Use DVD, 0.025″ (0.6mm) and 0.025″-0.030″ (0.6-0.7mm) drive rolls,0.030″-0.045″ (0.7-1.1mm) knurled drive roll, and 0.025″-0.035″ (0.6-0.9mm) and 0.035″-0.045″ (0.9-1.1mm) wire guides. In short, everything you need to use the 140C right away. The only equipment missing are gloves and a welding helmet. Picking gloves was as easy as picking the welder. Lincoln makes all kinds of quality hand protection. As you can see in the photo, I went with three different length pairs. For a helmet, I wanted Lincoln’s idiot-proof, auto-darkening VIKING 2450. Auto-darkening keeps me from using the wrong lens and hurting my eyes. Plus, it’s a lot easier to just drop the lid, see everything normally, and let the lens automatically darken to the correct tint as soon as I start welding. Of course, it doesn’t suck that it’s got cool flames on it, too! AIM

Thinking of becoming a welder

So I've got a back-up plan in case my plan for getting to work for somewhere in the game design/art department doesn't pan out.

I wanted something that I could still utilize towards making art... and I really enjoyed metalsmithing class. So why not learn industrial welding? I could easily turn that around down the road of my life to use it for metal sculptures.

I've heard most non-certified welders make around $15/hour and most certified welders (who are specialist trained and able to keep passing the exams to keep their certs) can make up to $80k a year with benefits and pension because businesses are starting to have to go to foreign countries to get certified welders and machinists... young people these days just simply aren't learning those trades at all in the US.

Then of course there's wet and dry underwater welding which pays an obscene amount ($120k a year is considered an entry salary). I could probably do that for 5 years and have enough to start up my 10 year goal plan of a studio 5 years earlier... and have plenty to spare to take care of my family. It's dangerous but at the same time I was looking at some videos by underwater welders who were saying that most of that is hype and it's just as dangerous as any other job really... you just have to be able to focus on the job with tons of things going on around you regarding the ocean (unless it's dry underwater welding then you just have to be content to be stuck in a pressurized habitat for several days/weeks while you get the job done).

My only problem is, I can't see a downside... which means it might not be a good idea because everything has a downside.

Anyone done industrial welding before?

suitcase welder

I've got a miller, smaller one, not sure of the number unless I'd go look at it, but it holds only the 10 lb spools, I've had it about 5 years now, I love it, its set up for both gas or shielded wire, I only use shielded wire, I drag it anywhere the cables reach to. I'm not sure what your going to do with it, but if you do any amount of welding, you'll love whatever model or make you buy.

what welder is best for thin sheet metal - MIG Welding Forum

Welcome to the forum, all decent machines, I can only judge on the portamig which goes down to 15amps which is handy, it's also a very robust built machine.

Experience probably counts more than ultra low amps but you certainly don't want anything that can't drop to 20 or 30amps min.

welder stopped working - MIG Welding Forum

Defaultwelder stopped working

I have a problem with my WSE200 tig welder. Its been working fine up till now but now I turn it on and after 15 seconds the first light comes on for a few secs and the fan stops. The welder not working (not sure if it works in the 15 seconds before it dies, have not tried)
The light that comes on is the one with a lightening bolt type symbol if it makes an difference.
It might just be me but the pitch of the hum the machine seems a tad higher than normal. The welders normal hum noise which stops when the machine dies..
I have tried taking off the cover and blowing compressed air to remove dust, machine still exactly the same. Any thing else I can try before thinking about dropping it off a building, thanks
