I got the money together to buy a brand new Lincoln Square Wave TIG 175.
I'm going to use it mostly for welding silicon bronze sheet, 3/64" thick (.047" or 1.191 mm). Here are some specific questions I have:
I'm going to use it mostly for welding silicon bronze sheet, 3/64" thick (.047" or 1.191 mm). Here are some specific questions I have:
1. What is the optimum electrode for this? What diameter, and ceriated, thoriated, lanthanated, or zirconiated? It comes with a 3/32" ceriated tungsten electrode. Will that suffice? This is twice as thick as the metal I will be welding.
2. AC or DC?
3. Are there any toxic fumes I need to worry about? With no flux involved and no oxidation, I would think it would be pretty safe. Silicon bronze has no zinc in it.
4. I'm going to want to get an auto-darkening helmet. Any recommendations?
Any other advice or suggestions you may have are welcome.
