A 20-year old welder, who attacked his victim with broken bottle, inflicting deep wounds on him, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a circuit court in Kumasi.
Osuman Mohammed pleaded guilty for unlawfully causing harm.
Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei told the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that the crime was committed on March 16, at about 2200 hours.
The prosecution said the complainant, a trader at Old Tafo in Kumasi, pleaded with Mohammed to stop beating a lady but to no avail.
Insp. Kyei said the complainant left the scene but he was later on attacked by Mohammed with broken bottle.
Prosecution said the complainant was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital and was transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching, where he was admitted for two days. GNA
