Lincoln Electric Expands POWER MIG® Wire Welder Line with New 180 Dual.

For Immediate Release

(Cleveland, OH) - Lincoln Electric’s popular POWER MIG® wire welder line, a long time favorite of professional small shop welders, now includes the POWER MIG® 180 Dual model. With single phase 60 Hz dual 120- and 208/230-volt input power capability, this same machine can be used to weld at home, in the shop or out on the job site.

Handling both MIG (GMAW) and flux-cored gas-shielded (FCAW-G) or self-shielded (FCAW-S) processes, the POWER MIG® 180 Dual is designed for sheet metal welding, light-frame auto body work and farm and small shop applications.

The 68 lb. (31 kg) machine features dual input power capability, allowing users to select 120-volt input power for home and generator-driven environments or 208/230-volt input power for shop applications on thicker materials.

No tools are required to toggle between the two input power voltages. Users simply need to attach the correct power cord and twist the locking nut, providing a safe and easy transition from one input voltage to another.

The dual input power capability extends the machine’s welding output, allowing for welding on up to 1/2-inch steel with self-shielded, flux-cored wire. The welder has a wire feeder speed range of 50-500 ipm (1.2-12.7 m/min) and 30-140 amp output range, operating on 120 volts input power or 30-180 amps output range on 208/230 volt input power. The machine is rated 90 amps/ 19.5 volts at 20 percent duty cycle on 120 input and 130 amps/ 20 volts at 30 percent duty cycle on 230 volt input power.

The POWER MIG® 180 Dual industrial cast aluminum drive system delivers positive traction and its patented split wire guides ensure optimal wire alignment. The unit’s brass-to-brass gun connection provides improved electrical contact and its large, industrial closed-design motor improves torque while enhancing trouble-free performance.

The 180 Dual is designed around Lincoln Electric’s patented Diamond Core Technology™, which delivers a forgiving arc, excellent out-of-position arc action, low spatter and a wide voltage range at a given wire-feed-speed for steel, stainless and aluminum.

While shipped with a standard MIG gun for mild steel, stainless steel or aluminum welding, this wire welder is also spool gun-ready right out of the box. When paired with the Magnum® 100SG Spool Gun, the 180 Dual delivers enhanced aluminum feeding.

A detachable canvas bag is included for easy storing of input power cables and other accessories. The welder is also designed so that no tools are required for input power changes, wire spool mounting or wire drive service and polarity changes, allowing for maximum up time with minimum fuss.
