Everything I've read tells me .035 fluxcore [I have no gas as yet] for thicker metal. I've run that since I bought [20 years....wow!] the 110V Lincoln Weldpac 100 using an adapter for bigger [10#?] spools. I'm on my second roll....I don't do much welding I guess, tho I'd like to.
I recently switched to .030 as I was welding some thin sheet to my cage and I didn't find as many blow-holes, it was easier to control my puddle. What I did find is the wire wants to stick inside the whip. I think I will have to buy a liner and tip for .030 and maybe drive wheels. I was told the .030 fluxcore is equivalent to .025 gas.
