Minimum Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A working knowledge of welding shop practices and procedures is required. A working knowledge of drawings, blueprints, maintenance instructions and other applicable technical directives is required. A minimum two years experience in commercial welding is required. Prior experience in welding on assigned engines highly desired. The capability to meet the certification requirements of Technical order 00-25-252 within the first 60 day of employment provided all certification areas have been worked within the initial 60 day period. Must be able to be respirator qualified. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste and smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, in which case questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. Night work may be required. Must be able to pass a NAC background check. Must be able to pass a reading comprehension evaluation with a 70% or higher score.

Job Description:
Provides Welding support for engine/components/support equipment at the highest quality and safety standards in accordance with applicable technical directives. Specific taskings for this position can be located in the applicable work center Job Qualification Standards (JQS). The following represents general duties and responsibilities this position will be required to complete.

Essential Responsibilities:
: 1. Weld, grind, solder, heat-treat and perform sand blasting of engine and support equipment in accordance with the requirements specified in applicable technical manuals. 2. Fabricate parts, stands, fixtures, and equipment as required. 3. Determines serviceability of engine parts/support equipment utilizing precision measurement equipment. 4. Maintain shop equipment and precision measuring tools. 5. Comply with all applicable contractual programs and regulations, i.e. tools, safety, HAZMAT, support equipment, housekeeping and FOD prevention programs. 6. Accomplish paperwork entries associated with maintenance tasks and the ordering of parts. 7. Assist the Senior Mechanic, in coordination with the Training Manager and Division Foreman, with on the job training requirements. 8. Perform inspections of engine/component repairs for quality and completeness. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
