A large tonnage open pit operation, Round Mountain has earned commendations for its safety and environmental initiatives. Round Mountain is an open pit mining operation located in Nye County, Nevada. Gold production in the Round Mountain district dates back to 1906. A hundred years later, Round Mountain mine reached the significant milestone of 10 million ounces poured, achieved over a 20-year period. Most of the people who work at the mine live in the nearby communities of Hadley and Carvers.

General Summary:   
Under the general direction of the Field Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing all welding required on P&H electric shovels and drills to the highest possible standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:

¨       Service welding needs throughout the entire mine site, including creation of machinery and repairing failures.
¨       Run various wires and rods, and understand the uses and applications of each type.
¨       Read blueprints as part of welding preparation.
¨       Write service records and reports, and file appropriately.
¨       Responsible to manage the RMGC Environmental Health and Safety Management system in his/her areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

¨       Must understand differences between and uses of various wires and rods.
¨       Must have a basic metallurgical understanding.
¨       Must have the ability to read blueprints, and good fabrication skills.
¨       Welding Tech degree or certification preferred.
¨       Must have a minimum of 5 years welding experience.
¨       Work will be performed mainly outside, although some inside work will be required.   The incumbent will work on a rotating schedule, some overtime will be required, and appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
