Fire attributed to spark from welder - Winnipeg Free Press

The cause of a fire in western Manitoba Thursday afternoon has been attributed to a spark  from a welder, RCMP said.

Fire officials responded to the fire in Lenore, about 30 kilometres north-east of Virden. Thursday at about 2:45 p.m.

The fire damaged two abandoned homes and a house trailer.

One family had to evacuate but no one was injured, RCMP said.

The blaze wasn’t considered suspicious, said the RCMP.

Officials from fire departments in the RM of Woodworth, Elk Horn, Oak Lake and Virden helped battle the blaze.

"The area (experienced) strong winds which is reported to have caused some challenges in fighting the fire," said an RCMP D Division press release.
