Men Accused In Attack On Welder Facing Capital Murder Charges ...

Two men charged in connection with a January beating and robbery of a Vicksburg man are expected to appear in court Monday.Fred Jackson, 62, died Friday of injuries he suffered during the Jan. 29 attack at Tri-Miss Recycling in Jackson, police said. Jackson had been hospitalized since the beating.Jackson was welding security bars when two men wearing hoods walked up to him, robbed him of his wallet, beat him and left him for dead, police said.Jontez Garvis, 29, and David Thomas, 25, were arrested in connection with the attack, and were both charged with aggravated assault and robbery, police said. Charges were upgraded to capital murder after Jackson's death, police said.
