Job Description

Job Summary: Leads welding associates engaged in operating welding machinery to fabricate and assemble metal products according to required specifications and production schedules.

  • Perform all functions involved in operation of robotic welders, including programming, troubleshooting, touch point, and operations corrections.
  • Programs robots to perform specified tasks, applying knowledge of programming language and PLCs’ using keyboard or control panel or robot controller.
  • Modifies program to refine movement and efficiency of robot.
  • Reads / interprets job specifications, blueprints, and work orders to determine type of welding and material requirements and oversees the use of equipment and supplies to perform work in accordance with operational and quality standards.
  • Confers with other department Team Leaders to achieve and maintain company quality, efficiency and productivity standards.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists other team members with resolving problems.
  • Oversees successful training of all associates in the department.
  • Ensures that company safety policies and procedures are strictly followed by all associates in the department.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all produced parts conform to company quality system specifications.
  • Actively demonstrates and promotes company values.
  • Reports to Production Manager.

Job Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One to two years of the programming of Panasonic and ABB robotic welders in a manufacturing environment.
  • Successful completion of programming test.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  Required Knowledge and Abilities

  •  Knowledge of spot, projection and robotic welding processes.
  •  Knowledge of robotic welding equipment, tools, their uses and programming.
  •  Basic Math skills.
  • Must have the ability to measure and inspect parts using quality control gauges and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents like blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and vendors.
  • Ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to the job.
  • Ability to successfully lead at least 15 or more employees across multiple shifts.

    Physical Requirements

 

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk; to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.   
  • Frequently required to bend and stoop.
  • Must regularly lift up to 30 lbs. and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, fumes, heat and loud noise.
  • Must wear required Proper Protective Equipment (eyes, feet, hearing, hands and welding shield).
